En la segunda parte (Capítulos 11 al 17), se abordan la interpretación y el diagnóstico de las anemias y poliglobulias (policitemias), de las enfermedades leucocitarias neoplásicas y no neoplásicas, y de las enfermedades que cursan con plaquetosis o plaquetopenia. Incluye la nueva clasificación de las neoplasias hematológicas establecidas por la Organización Mundial de la Salud e incluye en capítulos específicos, casos clínicos comentados y más de 500 fotos de las células, incluyendo, de ser necesario, el diagnóstico por citometría de flujo. La obra mantiene su didáctica ya consagrada para el uso en la práctica clínica y de laboratorio utilizando al hemograma como punto de partida para el diagnóstico de las más variadas enfermedades.
